WHITE NILE SUGAR PROJECT INAUGURATION

The President of Sudan Omer Albashir inaugurated on Wednesday 11th July 2012 the White Nile Sugar Factory and a number of projects relating to the sugar industry. At the inauguration of the factory, President Albashir affirmed that the White Nile Sugar project is considered the start to implement all the major sugar projects in Sudan and a nucleus to realize self-sufficiency. This grand ceremony hosted governmental bodies, different corporations from different sectors, investors and key individuals of the country and several international guests. 

In 2000, KETS was appointed by the Sudan Ministry of Industry to prepare the project strategy and feasibility study of the gigantic WNSP. In 2002 and after the endorsement of the Feasibility Study by the government, KETS was appointment to expand the project for investment.

The project is located in the White Nile state on the east bank of the White Nile North east Elduwaim city, covering 165000 Feddan (700 km2). WNSC will produce:

·         450 000 tons of sugar per year,

·         45 million liters of Ethanol per year

·         100,000 tons of animal feed per year

·         104 megawatt of Electrical energy per hour
